How CODBot works

After a COD order is placed, CODBot sends an OTP via SMS or WhatsApp, falls back to an automated IVR call, can auto-cancel unverified orders, and applies fraud filters and order tagging. All of that happens after checkout, downstream of ACOD's layer.

Quick context on ACOD's side: ACOD works entirely inside the native Shopify checkout through Shopify Functions (payment and delivery customizations). It adds the COD fee as a dedicated shipping rate, links the Cash on Delivery payment method to that rate, and hides or shows COD based on your rules. It adds no theme code and no scripts, so anything that happens before checkout (on your storefront) or after checkout (on placed orders) is outside ACOD's layer and cannot collide with it.

The one overlap: the optional fee

CODBot's premium plan includes a custom fee for COD orders. That is the same job ACOD does, implemented separately. Running both fee features would stack two charges on the same order and confuse customers at delivery. The fix is simple: use ACOD for the fee (it sits on the shipping line, taxed and refunded correctly) and CODBot purely for verification.

Setup checklist for this pairing

  1. Configure your COD fee and availability rules in ACOD as normal.
  2. In CODBot, enable OTP verification and fraud filters.
  3. Confirm CODBot's custom COD fee option is off.
  4. Place a test COD order and check the total shows exactly one fee.

Both fees apply to the order through different mechanisms, so the customer sees a higher total than intended. Nothing breaks technically, but it is a pricing mistake. Keep exactly one fee source, and ACOD's shipping-line fee is the cleaner one for invoices, taxes, and refunds.

›Does CODBot's OTP delay ACOD's fee in any way?
